Yellow page listings in a legacy database are maintained and updated by sourcing information from telephone companies electronically. Information flows into the system via tape, FTP, email and the web. The system is designed to be a set of distributed Java applications that channel, process and apply this information to the legacy database. The challenge was to interface this distributed and open system with different legacy systems, without disrupting the current process. UML methodology was used in design.
Environment: Java 2 on Windows NT and Sun Solaris, Symantec Visual Café, JDBC, RMI and Rational Rose.
